Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomadic in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant-to-the-touch texture contains a high fat content to regulate body temperature effectively. Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven one by one by Iranian nomads using natural dyes on this wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years. Gabbeh, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, is warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing it from feeling hot. And, of course, there's its artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They are so artistic that they can be displayed on a wall as well as on the floor. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. If you are concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the nature of hand-weaving, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, or dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
