Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, everyday carpets hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture rich in natural oils, which helps regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, showcasing their exceptional durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And then there's its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be used on the floor, of course, but are also artistic enough to be displayed on walls. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. If it needs cleaning: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung-out towel. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, then air dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool. The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
