Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool with a long pile, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture. Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads who meticulously hand-weave each one with wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last up to 100 years, demonstrating its superior durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created by the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur. The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
