Characteristics of Persian hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant-to-the-touch texture contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh, made by nomads in Iran who hand-dye the wool with natural dyes and meticulously weave each strand, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, Gabbeh are warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing you from feeling hot.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being an original, one-of-a-kind piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the dye used on the wool may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
