Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool with a long pile, deeply rooted in their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in oil to effectively regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, thread by thread, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, demonstrating its exceptional durability. Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, is also characterized by being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer. And above all, there's its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the nomads' imagination, often features designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece. They can be used not only on the floor but also displayed as art on walls. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
As these are hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used to color the wool. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed for shipping
The pom-poms on the corners and along the edges of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment. Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish to have the pom-poms removed for shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
