Features of Persian hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the daily lives of the Qashqai nomads, who hand-weave them from vegetable-dyed wool in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing it to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high fat content for effective body temperature regulation, resulting in soft and pleasant-to-the-touch fibers.
Gabbeh rugs, made by these Iranian nomads who meticulously hand-weave each strand of this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also known for being warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there's their artistic quality. The Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, uneven weaving, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
