Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. These long-piled rugs are an integral part of their daily life, made from wool dyed with natural plant extracts. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, allowing it to withstand the harsh conditions of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant feel, rich in natural oils that help regulate body temperature.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven one by one by Iranian nomads using naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And, above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the nomads' imagination, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dust and dirt by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile direction.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung-out towel. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with water to remove detergent residue, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, or dye variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
