Characteristics of Hand-Woven Persian Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs rooted in everyday life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as soft and pleasant-to-the-touch fibers containing a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, made from wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, showcasing their excellent durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and not feeling hot in summer.
And, above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find a Gabbeh that you can use for a long time, a special one just for you?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive smell from the dyes used to color the wool.
The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
