The turquoise used in this accessory is called Shajar, and it has a natural matrix pattern where the turquoise and other stones are mixed. Shajar means "tree with branches" in Persian, and the branch-like texture of the stone enhances the blue of the turquoise.

This is an original design by our shop, a one-of-a-kind piece crafted by the famous Iranian engraver Mr. Javaheri. Leather Javaheri was an engraver who served as one of the royal family's jewelers during the Pahlavi dynasty. While lecturing at Tehran University of Art, he created jewelry for our shop from 1990 to 2007. His delicate designs, tailored to the unique characteristics of each turquoise, further enhance the charm of the stones. The back of each turquoise is individually engraved in gold, matching the shape of the stone.

Characteristics of Persian Natural Firuze (Turquoise) Jewelry

This stone, mined in ancient Persia (Iran), was brought to Europe via Turkey, and the word "Turkish" became the origin of its name. Persian turquoise is of the highest quality with high hardness, displaying a vibrant, deep sky-blue color known as "the color of the spring sky." In fact, this was the first stone used by humankind as an amulet for protection.

In Persia, it was cherished as the stone of the royal family for many years, and this Persian blue was also highly valued during the Victorian era.
Besides Iran, the best source of turquoise, it is also found in Australia, America, China, Egypt, and other places, with varying qualities. While much of the turquoise brought to Japan comes from Arizona, USA, the Persian "firuze" (turquoise) is rarely introduced due to its drastically decreasing production in recent years, making it very precious.
