The turquoise used in this accessory is called Shajar, characterized by its natural matrix pattern where turquoise and other stones are mixed. "Shajar" means "tree with branches" in Persian, and the branch-like texture of the stone enhances the blue of the turquoise.

This is a one-of-a-kind original design by the renowned Iranian engraver, Mr. Javaheri, crafted exclusively for our store. Reza Javaheri was an engraver who worked as one of the royal family's jewelers during the Pahlavi dynasty. While lecturing at the University of Art in Tehran, he also produced jewelry for our store from 1990 to 2007. His delicate designs, tailored to the unique characteristics of each turquoise stone, further enhance its charm. The back of each turquoise stone is individually engraved in gold to match its unique shape.

Characteristics of Persian Natural Firoozeh (Turquoise) Jewelry

This stone, mined in ancient Persia (Iran), reached Europe via Turkey, which is how the word "turquoise" (meaning "Turkish") became its etymological origin. Persian turquoise is a vivid, deep sky blue, often called "the color of the spring sky," and is a high-quality stone with great hardness. In fact, it was the first stone used by humankind as a protective amulet.

In Persia, it was cherished as the stone of the royal family for many years, and this Persian blue was also highly valued during the Victorian era.
Besides Iran, the best source, turquoise of varying quality is also found in Australia, America, China, Egypt, and other places. While a lot of turquoise from Arizona, USA, is brought into Japan, this Persian "Firoozeh" (turquoise) is rarely introduced due to its significantly decreased production in recent years, making it very precious.
