The turquoise used in this accessory is called Shajar, which has a natural matrix pattern where turquoise and other stones are mixed. Shajar means "tree with branches" in Persian, and the branch-like texture of the stone enhances the blue of the turquoise.

This is a one-of-a-kind original design from our shop, created by Mr. Javaheri, a renowned Iranian engraver. Mr. Reza Javaheri was an engraver who worked as one of the royal family's jewelers during the Pahlavi dynasty. While lecturing at Tehran University of Art, he created jewelry for our shop from 1990 to 2007. His delicate designs, tailored to the unique characteristics of each turquoise, further enhance the allure of the stone. The back of each turquoise is individually engraved in gold to match the shape of the stone.

Characteristics of Natural Persian Firoozeh (Turquoise) Jewelry

This stone, mined in ancient Persia (Iran), reached Europe via Turkey, which is where its name, meaning "Turkish," originated. Persian turquoise is of the highest quality, known for its high hardness and vibrant, deep sky-blue color, often referred to as "the color of spring sky." In fact, it was the first stone ever used by humanity as a protective amulet.

In Persia, it was cherished as the stone of the royal family for many years, and this Persian blue was also highly valued during the Victorian era.
Besides Iran, the best quality source, turquoise of varying quality is also produced in Australia, America, China, Egypt, and other places. While a lot of American Arizona turquoise is brought into Japan, this Persian "Firoozeh" (turquoise) is rarely introduced due to its drastically decreasing production in recent years, making it a valuable stone.
