Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
If you spill drinks, immediately absorb the liquid with something highly absorbent (such as paper towels or tissues), then wipe with a damp cloth.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterwards, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
