Characteristics of the production area (Sirjan)

Sirjan is a city located in southern Iran, in Kerman Province. Kilims woven in Sirjan are known as "Suzani" or "Silky Pichi" and the region is registered as a kilim production area by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization).

Sirjan kilims are characterized by their very dense and sturdy weave. Woven by nomadic women based on imagination without a pattern, their delicacy and intricacy are astonishing. They are Soumak weave, with little pile on the surface, and often feature animal and geometric patterns.

Sirjan kilims also feature many deep colors; red dyes are extracted from cherries, blue from eggplant skin, yellow from saffron, green from walnut leaves, and brown from walnut husks and tobacco. Due to these characteristics, Sirjan kilims are highly regarded worldwide and cherished as beautiful handicrafts.

What is a Kilim?

Persian hand-woven kilims are globally popular and traditional hand-woven textiles that grow richer with age. Depending on when they were woven, they are called vintage kilims, old kilims, or antique kilims, and are loved by people of all ages. Most kilims are wool, but some kilims made with cotton or silk are also produced. They use natural materials. Since natural dyes are also used for dyeing, you can use them with peace of mind. These hand-woven kilims are durably woven and are based on the design styles of tribes and ethnic groups, known as tribal rugs. They feature geometric patterns with motifs of nature and animals, and each kilim has a unique design.

Various ethnic groups live across the vast land of Iran. The designs and color characteristics vary by region, allowing you to enjoy a diverse range of design patterns.

Other Uses for Kilims

Kilims are not only used simply as carpets or floor coverings but are also widely used as decorative items for walls, sofas, tables, beds, and other furniture. Their unique designs and colors are distinctive, and they are often used as accent pieces in a room. Kilims are not merely decorative items but are positioned as important elements that enrich the overall atmosphere of a room and highlight its individuality. They add unique charm and warmth to a living space. By incorporating kilims, you can achieve an artful and comfortable living environment, surrounded by things you love.

Kilims and Interior Design

Kilims are incredibly versatile and can be incorporated into various interior styles. In modern interiors, the unique patterns and colors of kilims add an accent to simple spaces. For natural or Scandinavian interiors, combining them with wooden furniture, plants, or other natural materials enhances the warmth and natural ambiance of the kilim. They also blend well with bohemian atmospheres; laying them on the floor or hanging them on a wall enhances the overall room aesthetic. Kilims have ethnic designs and a tribal feel, making them a good match for interiors that incorporate cultural elements from Iran, Turkey, and Morocco. Placing them as tapestries or cushions can add warmth and depth to an entire room.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom. If you notice stains, dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterward, thoroughly wipe with water to remove detergent residue, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape, weaving irregularities, or dye variations. Please enjoy these as part of the charm of hand-woven items.

The first one was a doormat, which I bought online. It was a really good product, so this time I came to the store looking for a Gabbeh large enough to place in front of my sofa. I received very polite service and found a favorite piece, which I immediately decided on. It really suits the atmosphere of my home, and I'm glad I bought it. Thank you very much.

I bought a Persian rug from an online shop for the first time.
I was a bit anxious about buying a Persian rug online because its appearance can change so much depending on the light, but the polite and thorough answers I received when I called to ask questions put me at ease and I went ahead with the purchase.
Although the actual rug was a little darker than expected, I'm delighted to have found such a wonderful item that met my expectations.
They also handled my request for a tapestry finish quickly and with great care, making for a very pleasant shopping experience.
The finish was also meticulously done and beautiful.
I would definitely like to use their services again.

This was my first purchase. I had been looking for a Gabbeh for my living room and had seen many in person, but I couldn't find anything that really spoke to me. Then I found one on your website and it was love at first sight, so I bought it immediately. I was a little worried about buying something based solely on an image, but the actual product was just as wonderful as I imagined. The packaging was also very careful, and it even came with a letter! Thank you so much for the beautiful Persian tapestry as well. I've hung it in my entryway. I look forward to shopping with you again if the opportunity arises.
