Characteristics of the Origin (Varamin)

Varamin is located near Tehran, the capital of Iran, and has historically been connected by the Silk Road. In Varamin, where diverse ethnic groups and races live, traditional hand-woven "kilims" are particularly famous. The color schemes of Varamin kilims change with the times; older works often feature vivid colors, while more recent ones tend to use subdued, darker tones. While various patterns exist in the designs, geometric patterns called "Cheshm Gir" are particularly known as a characteristic of this region.
