Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the daily lives of the Qashqai nomads who hand-weave them in the Zagros Mountains of Iran using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content that helps regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by hand by Iranian nomads after dyeing this wool with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool feeling.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created imaginatively by nomads often feature animal and plant designs, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one that you can use for many years to come?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique scent from the wool dye.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Removing the pompoms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
