Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically herd in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Valiant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant feel with a high fat content that helps regulate body temperature.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads strand by strand from natural-dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with drastic temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imagination often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can, of course, be placed on the floor, or even displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can enjoy for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dust and dirt with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
If dirt is a concern: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with water to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping
If requested, the pom-poms on the corners and sides of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you would like the pom-poms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
