Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs made from plant-dyed wool, hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains and contains a high amount of fat, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, skillfully regulating body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads one strand at a time using natural dyes on this wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, boasting superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, original item.
They are not only perfect for laying on the floor but can also be displayed as art on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with clean water to remove any detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dye used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
