Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using plant-dyed wool. They are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing it to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and is rich in natural oils, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, as it helps regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran who dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each strand, are characterized by their plush and delightful texture.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, demonstrating its exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also known for being warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can, of course, be placed on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be displayed on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile direction.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then air dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, as well as weaving and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
