Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai nomads living in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Varianti wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of oil for effective body temperature regulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, handcrafted by Iranian nomads who carefully dye this wool with natural dyes and weave each strand one by one, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being an original, one-of-a-kind item.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art.
Why not find a special Gabbeh rug just for you, one that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a wet cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may occur.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.
The pom-poms on the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
