Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. These rugs are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed wool with long piles. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, essential for surviving the harsh conditions of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, which contains a good amount of oil to regulate body temperature.
The Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing them from feeling hot.
And, above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can, of course, be placed on the floor, but are also beautiful enough to be hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Vacuum or sweep along the pile to remove dirt and dust.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand these as part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Tassels can also be removed before shipping
The tassels attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the tassels does not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the Gabbeh shipped without the tassels, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
