Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and its soft, pleasant texture with high oil content, allowing for good body temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, is characterized by its plush and comfortable feel.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, showcasing its exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with drastic temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also has the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And above all, its artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often features designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
