Characteristics of Handwoven Persian Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile carpets woven by hand by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool, and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and contains a high amount of oil to regulate body temperature, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, making them feel cool.
And, above all, their artistry is remarkable. The Gabbeh rugs created by the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find a special Gabbeh that you can cherish and use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being handwoven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please appreciate these as part of the charm of handwoven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
