Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and has a soft, pleasant texture with a high fat content to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made by hand by Iranian nomads meticulously weaving each strand of this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Gabbeh, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are also known for being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be displayed on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile direction.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
The scent will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
