Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are made from naturally dyed wool with a long pile and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing it to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively, resulting in soft and pleasant-to-the-touch fibers.
Gabbeh rugs, woven by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, one strand at a time, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last 100 years, boasting superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find a special Gabbeh that you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight irregularities in shape, pattern, weaving, and dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dye used on the wool.
The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pom-poms can also be removed for shipping
The pom-poms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pom-poms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipment, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
