Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically herd in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are rugs deeply rooted in daily life, made from plant-dyed sheep's wool with a long pile. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature, resulting in soft and pleasant-to-the-touch hair quality.
Gabbehs woven by Iranian nomads, meticulously hand-tying each strand after dyeing the wool with natural dyes, are characterized by their soft and fluffy texture.
Well-woven Gabbehs are so durable they are said to last 100 years.
Gabbehs, born from the extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, with the characteristic of not feeling hot.
And above all, their artistic quality. Many Gabbehs created from the imagination of nomads feature designs of animals and plants, with no two being alike, making each a unique, one-of-a-kind piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find a special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time, one that is uniquely yours?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
