Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft texture contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively. The Gabbeh, made by nomads in Iran who dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each strand, is characterized by its fluffy and pleasant feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, is warm in winter and airy in summer, giving it the characteristic of not feeling hot. And, of course, there's its artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, imagined and created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile direction. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel. Afterward, carefully wipe with water to remove any detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the nature of hand-weaving, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As such, a distinctive odor from the wool dye may be present. While the odor will gradually dissipate with use, we kindly ask for your understanding in advance.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping.
The pompoms attached to the corners or sides of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery. Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish to have the pompoms removed before shipment, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
