This Gabbeh is woven with fine threads, and while it requires more effort to weave, it is a Luri-Baft Gabbeh, which is thinner and has a tighter weave than regular Gabbeh.
"Luri" means "fine" and "Baft" means "weave" in Persian.

Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs

Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads inhabiting the Zagros Mountains in Iran. These rugs are deeply ingrained in their daily life, featuring long piles and using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product, originating from sheep living in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, possesses excellent durability and a soft, pleasant texture due to its high oil content, which helps with body temperature regulation. The Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation. Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. If stains are a concern: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated shade.

Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool. This odor will gradually fade with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

Pompoms can be removed before shipping.

The pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
