Features of Persian Hand-Knotted Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool, hand-knotted by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, deeply rooted in their way of life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of lanolin for effective thermoregulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Dyed with natural dyes, each Gabbeh is carefully hand-knotted by Iranian nomads, one thread at a time, resulting in its characteristic soft and fluffy feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And above all, their artistic quality. The Gabbeh created by nomads from their imagination often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, original piece.
They are not only suitable for placing on the floor but can also be displayed on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-knotted, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-knotted item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed upon request
The pom-poms located at the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed and shipped to you upon request.
Removing the pom-poms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
