Features of Hand-Woven Persian Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads inhabiting the Zagros Mountains of Iran, made from vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product, developed to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, possesses excellent durability and a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Originating from a climate with extreme daily temperature differences, Gabbeh are also known for being warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh, created from the nomads' imaginations, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique original. They are so artistic that they can be displayed on walls as art, not just on floors. How about finding a special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time, one that is uniquely yours?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For noticeable stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dyes used on the wool.
While the smell will gradually dissipate with use, please be aware of this beforehand.
