Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product is exceptionally durable, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of lanolin for excellent thermoregulation, resulting in soft, pleasant-feeling wool.
Gabbehs are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture, as Iranian nomads dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each rug.
Well-woven Gabbehs are so durable they are said to last 100 years.
Gabbehs, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing heat buildup.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbehs, imagined and created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.
How about finding a special Gabbeh just for you, one that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dyes may occur.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pompoms can also be removed before shipping

The pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you would like the pompoms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
