Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically live in Iran's Zagros Mountains. These long-piled rugs, deeply rooted in their daily lives, are made from plant-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture is due to its high oil content, which helps regulate body temperature.
The Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by hand, one thread at a time, by Iranian nomads after dyeing the wool with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, indicating their exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, making them feel cool.
And, above all, there is their artistry. The Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dye used for the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
