Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed sheep's wool with long piles. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture containing a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
These Gabbehs, made by Iranian nomads who meticulously hand-weave each one from naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbehs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with drastic temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And, of course, there's their artistic quality. Gabbehs created from the nomads' imaginations often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They are so artistic that they can be hung on a wall as art, not just placed on the floor.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
