Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using plant-dyed wool with a long pile, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, necessary for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture due to its high lanolin content, which helps with body temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads, meticulously crafted one by one from wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are renowned for their durability, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, there's their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, born from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be placed on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Gabbeh rugs are meant to be cherished for a long time; why not find your own special Gabbeh?
Daily Care
Remove dust and dirt by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel or similar cloth. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with water to remove detergent residue, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dye unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the wool dyes may occur.
This odor will gradually fade with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping

Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
