Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as a soft and pleasant texture rich in oils to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and delightful feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are renowned for their exceptional durability, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And, above all, there is their artistic quality. The Gabbeh rugs created by the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They are so artistic that they can be displayed on walls as well as on floors.
Gabbeh rugs are meant to be cherished for a long time; why not find your own special Gabbeh rug?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dyes used on the wool.
While the smell will gradually dissipate with use, we ask for your understanding in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.

If requested, the pom-poms located at the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you would like the pom-poms to be removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
