Characteristics of Persian Hand-Knotted Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-knotted by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. They are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in their way of life. The wool used in this product, called Persian Valiant, possesses superior durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and has soft, pleasant-to-the-touch fibers rich in oil for effective body temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by hand, strand by strand, by Iranian nomads after dyeing the wool with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are also known for being warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And, above all, there's their artistic quality. The Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imaginations often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be placed on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-knotted, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-knotted item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used to color the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping.

The pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pompoms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
