Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in daily life, made from plant-dyed wool with a long pile. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, allowing it to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, which contains a high fat content for effective body temperature regulation. These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads using naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. Strongly woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Originating from a climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece. They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also displayed on walls as art. A Gabbeh rug is something you can use for a long time; why not find your own special Gabbeh? Daily Care Use a vacuum cleaner or broom to remove dust and dirt along the direction of the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area. Important Notes Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the dyes used on the wool may be present. This scent will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this beforehand. Pom-poms can also be removed before shipping.
If requested, the pom-poms attached to the corners or sides of the Gabbeh rug can be removed before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh rug.
If you wish for the pom-poms to be removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
