Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh rugs are long-pile carpets made from plant-dyed wool, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. Rooted in their daily lives, the Persian Varianti wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils, helps regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, with their wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel. Well-woven Gabbehs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile. For persistent stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving unevenness, and dyeing unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present. The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
