Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile carpets made from plant-dyed wool, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. Rooted in their daily lives, the Persian Varianti wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils, helps regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, with their wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel. Well-woven Gabbehs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And of course, there's their artistic quality. The Gabbehs imagined and created by nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be hung on walls. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile. For persistent stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving unevenness, and dyeing unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present. The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can also be removed before shipping

If requested, the pom-poms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery. Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
