Features of Persian hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and soft, pleasant-to-the-touch hair with a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh, woven by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, is characterized by its fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, Gabbeh are also warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also hung on the wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
As these are hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used for the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
