Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The wool used in this product, known as Persian Variant, possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains, as well as a soft, pleasant texture with abundant oils to regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven knot by knot by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Gabbeh, created from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And, above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, original piece. They can be placed on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. If stains are a concern: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
As these are hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, or dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the unique charm of a hand-woven item. Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool, which may result in a characteristic odor from the wool dye. The odor will gradually diminish with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
