Features of Hand-woven Persian Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are deeply rooted in daily life, featuring long piles and wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian variant wool used in this product, known for its excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, also contains a high amount of oil to regulate body temperature, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing you from feeling hot.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the nomads' imaginations, often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dye unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Tassels can be removed upon request
The tassels attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request, and we can deliver the rug to you without them.
Removing the tassels will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the Gabbeh shipped without tassels, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
