Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically herd sheep in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian Varied wool used in this product has excellent durability, developed to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and soft, pleasant-to-the-touch fibers containing a lot of oil to regulate body temperature.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.

The pom-poms attached to the corners or sides of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
