Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool with a long pile, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as a soft, pleasant texture rich in oils, perfect for temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs are made by Iranian nomads who meticulously hand-weave each strand of this naturally dyed wool, resulting in a distinctively plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last up to 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs, created from the nomads' imaginations, often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find a special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, or dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Consequently, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Tassels can be removed upon request
The tassels attached to the corners or sides of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipping.
Removing the tassels does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
