Vacuum the dust off the surface along the nap. If you spill a drink or other liquid, first absorb the moisture with an absorbent material (such as paper towels or tissues). Then, place a dry towel on the back of the rug, and using water and a neutral detergent, blot it with a firmly wrung-out towel. Finally, remove as much moisture as possible with an absorbent material and hang it in a well-ventilated area to dry.
