Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, nomadic people who live in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed wool with a long pile. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil for good body temperature regulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
These Gabbeh rugs, dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven knot by knot by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, with the characteristic of not feeling hot.
And above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dyes used on the wool.
The smell will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
