Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai tribe, nomadic people in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are hand-woven using wool dyed with natural plant dyes, and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, made by Iranian nomads who meticulously hand-weave each strand of this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, created in a climate with large temperature fluctuations between day and night, are warm in winter and breathable in summer, making them feel cool.
And, above all, is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can, of course, be placed on the floor, but are also beautiful enough to be hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can enjoy for many years to come?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung-out towel. Afterwards, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping.
The pompoms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pompoms does not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
