Characteristics of Persian Hand-knotted Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-knotted rugs made by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in oil to effectively regulate body temperature.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-knotted one by one by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last 100 years.
Originating from a climate with drastic temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing you from feeling hot.
And above all, there's their artistic quality. The Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imaginations often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but are also artistic enough to be displayed on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterwards, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-knotted, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-knotted item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may occur.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping.

If requested, we can deliver your Gabbeh rug with the pompoms on the corners or middle removed.
Removing the pompoms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pompoms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
