Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically herd in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and a soft, pleasant texture rich in oil, which helps in body temperature regulation.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, knot by knot, resulting in a plush and comfortable texture characteristic of Gabbeh rugs.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with significant temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, original piece with no two alike.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
