Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool as an integral part of their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains, and is soft and pleasant to the touch, containing a high amount of oil to effectively regulate body temperature.
The Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously one by one by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from the climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imagined and created by nomads, feature many animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, original piece with no two alike.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the wool dyes.
The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
