Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the daily lives of the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, hand-weaving them using plant-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains and contains a high amount of natural oil, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, skillfully regulating body temperature.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and each Gabbeh rug is carefully hand-woven by Iranian nomads, resulting in a fluffy and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, created in a climate with large temperature differences between day and night, are also characterized by being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but also hung on walls as art.
How about finding your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the nap of the rug.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, or dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the dyes used to color the wool may occur.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Tassels can be removed for shipping
If requested, the tassels attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery.
Removing the tassels does not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
