Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as its soft and pleasant texture containing a high amount of lanolin, which helps in temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh rugs, hand-dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven one by one by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
A well-woven Gabbeh is highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs are warm in winter and airy in summer, providing a cool sensation.
And above all, their artistry. Gabbehs created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a wet cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique scent from the wool dye.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
